(Event Date: Wed 03/15) The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is hosting a screening of “Generation Start Up”--a documentary capturing an in-the-trenches look at the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who launch startups in Detroit. The screening is Thursday at 5pm in University Hall Room 170 on The Augusta University Summerville Campus. Admission is free, but advance registration is requested at AugustaMetroChamber.com.
(Event date: Thu 03/16) This Thursday, it’s the Opening Reception for the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council’s “SpringFest” Art Show and Competition. The Reception is open to the public and takes place from 5 to 7pm in the Main Gallery at North Augusta’s Arts & Heritage Center located at 100 Georgia Avenue. (Event Date: Thu 03/16) “No Longer Strangers”--a community centered art show--features 9 local artists coming together through the power of art. This collaborative art show is on display tomorrow at the Ann & Ellis Johnson Gallery of Art at the Jesse Norman School of the Arts on Greene Street from 6 to 8pm. (Event Date: Thu 03/16) Augusta Entertainment Complex presents the multi-platinum-selling and Grammy-award-winning group, Casting Crowns performing The Very Next Thing Tour. (Event Date: Thu 03/16) Augusta Amusements presents a tribute concert to one of the pioneers of the Motown Sound. “What’s Going On – The Marvin Gaye Experience” features vocalist Brian Owens performing selections that span Gaye’s music making career, including his classic duets and a suite of pieces from the revolutionary “What’s Going On” album. Showtime is 7:30pm this Thursday at The Hardin Performing Arts Theatre on Evans Town Center Blvd. Tickets and info available at AugustaAmusements.com.
(Event Date: Fri 03/17) The Augusta St. Patrick’s Day festival is happening Friday, featuring a parade, Irish dancing, band tributes, incredible vendors, and a kid’s zone with bouncy castles. This event takes place downtown at the Augusta Common near Reynolds Street. The parade begins at 2 followed by festivities at 4. (Event Date: Fri 03/17) Augusta Entertainment Complex presents The Harlem Globetrotters Wednesday at 7pm at the USC Aiken Convention Center in Graniteville, South Carolina, and Friday at 7pm at Augusta’s James Brown Arena. (Event date: Sun 03/19) This Sunday at 3pm, St. John Augusta's “Concerts with a Cause” series presents the final performance of the season, featuring award-winning cellist Sophie Shao and pianist Milana Strezeva. Both performers have earned accolades for their performances around the world and Ms. Strezeva has performed in Augusta with the Manhattan Piano Trio at St. John. (Event Date: Sun 03/19) The Davidson Fine Arts Magnet High School presents their “Chorale Sunday Concert” this Sunday afternoon at 4pm. The concert features vocal music performances by The Davidson Fine Arts Chorale. It takes place in the Beverly Barnhart Theatre, located at 615 12th Street in Downtown Augusta. Event date: Tue 03/21) The Riverwalk Series presents Tuesdays Music Live’s season finale with a performance by The Gough Duo at noon. Britons Rachel and Rupert Gough comprise the only regular violin and organ duo to tour internationally. The concert is Tuesday, March 21st at Augusta’s Saint Paul’s Church located at 7th and Reynolds Streets.
