(Event Date: Fri 04/14) The Augusta University Opera Institute presents World Voice Day, celebrating the art and science of the human voice with musical performances, scientific lectures, and professional advice. Presenters include students and faculty from Augusta University’s Fine Arts Department and Medical College. The World Voice Day events are free and open to the public. (Event Date: Sat 04/15) Columbia County’s annual Easter Egg Scramble is Saturday from 10 ‘til 1 at Evans Town Centre Park on Evans Town Center Blvd. There are separate Easter egg hunts for children 4 and under and 5 and above. The event includes prizes, music and more. Additional information, including admission costs, is available on the Community Events Tab at ColumbiaCountyGA.gov.
(Event Date: Sat 04/15) This Saturday, The Lyceum Series and The Cinema Series at Augusta University invite you to Eiga Fest--a day exploring the cinema and culture of Japan. The program gets underway at noon in the Maxwell Theatre on AU’s Summerville Campus. Admission is Free. More info at Augusta.Edu/MaxwellTheatre.
(Event Date: Sat 04/15) The Aiken Civic Ballet presents Alice in Wonderland Saturday, April 15th, with performances at 1pm and 7pm at the USCA Etherredge Center in Aiken. It’s an opportunity to fall down the rabbit hole with Alice in an adventure complete with a White Rabbit. More information and tickets available at aikenballet.org.
(Event Date: Fri 4/21) Blues, Brews and BBQ is back for another series of Friday afternoons full of BBQ, Blues Music and Craft Beer. The event takes place at Columbia County Amphitheatre, 7022 Evans Town Centre Blvd in Evans. The next Blues Brews and BBQ is next Friday, the 21st, from 6 til 9pm. (Event date: Thu 04/27) Symphony Orchestra Augusta presents the Grammy-winning Steep Canyon Rangers in concert at the Bell Auditorium on Thursday, April 27th. The group has recorded with Steve Martin, Edie Brickell, Paul McCartney, and The Dixie Chicks. Their authentic American bluegrass plays around the world—but you can seem right here with Symphony Orchestra Augusta. Tix and info at SOAugusta.org.
(Event date: Tue 04/28) Coming to Augusta University’s Maxwell Theatre April 28th, it’s the Akropolis Reed Quintet. The group combines sax, clarinet, oboe and bassoon to perform unique compositions and arrangements. The concert takes place from 7:30 to 9:30 and is part of the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music Series. (Event Date: Sat 05/06) GPB-Augusta, Garden City Jazz, The Greater Augusta Arts Council, and AU’s Music Department present the spring Straight A Jazz concert. It takes place beginning at 6pm on AU’s Summervillle Campus in at the Barnard Amphitheatre. Performers include New-York based saxtress, flutist and singer, Paula Atherton as well as cellist, vocalist and arranger, Arpenik Hokabyan. Tickets and info at Augusta.edu/MaxwellTheatre.
