Massive Highway Construction Job Fair Coming To Atlanta In February

Did you know the Georgia State Legislature passed a $1-billion-a-year transportation funding bill in 2015?

If you haven’t, surely you’ve noticed the increased construction projects around the state, especially in the metro Atlanta area. Traffic is unavoidable, amirite?

Anyhoo… one of the great things about the transportation bill is it created a need for thousands of highway construction workers. This is where the Georgia Highway Contractors Association (GHCA) comes in. They are partnering with the Latin American Association to host a major job fair in metro Atlanta. 

The fair will take place Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Latin American Association in Atlanta, 2750 Buford Highway, NE. The third is a Saturday, which hopefully allows for more people to attend than if held during the week.

You can register for the job fair here, and while walk-ups are welcome, it’s always better to register in advance if you can.

Eleven general contractors will be at the event, and applications for open positions will be accepted on-site, so bring some resumes if you have them and be ready to apply for jobs. While the contractors would love applicants with construction experience, there will be plenty of entry-level positions open.

So don’t worry if you’ve not had construction experience. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to begin a new career. All you need to do is be able to pass a drug screening and to have a valid driver’s license. Oh… and a willingness to work hard.
