The Governor’s Office Of Student Achievement Now Accepting Applications For 2018-2019 Innovation Fund And Teaching Competition

The Governor's Office of Student Achievement's (GOSA) Innovation Fund invests in school districts, traditional public schools, charter schools, and RESAs that are developing, implementing, and scaling radically innovative education programs. GOSA seeks to fund programs that target the root causes of challenging and complex problems through one of the following priority areas:
- Applied Learning with a Focus on STEAM education;
- Birth to Age Eight Language & Literacy Development;
- Blended & Personalized Learning; and
- Teacher & Leader Development for High-Need Schools.
There are three grant opportunities available through this year’s funding cycle:
- Accelerator Grant; $10,000
- Implementation Grant; $200,000-$700,000
- Scaling Grant; $200,000-$700,000
To apply, all applicants must complete the mandatory Technical Assistance Webinar Series and submit their application online by October 4, 2018.
Recommending a Teacher for the Innovation in Teaching Competition
The Innovation in Teaching Competition is a recognition and reward opportunity for Georgia’s teachers who are implementing innovative practices that advance student achievement in their classrooms every day. This round, GOSA is looking for teachers focused on the following priority areas:
- Applied Learning with a Focus on STEAM Education;
- Birth to Age Eight Language & Literacy;
- Blended & Personalized Learning; and
- Innovative Practices to Close the Achievement Gap.
What do the winners receive?
- $5,000 stipend for serving as a model educator;
- $10,000 grant to support innovative practices in his/her school; and
- Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) will film his/her classroom and make this video, along with his/her unit plan and supplementary materials, available online for other teachers.
How do teachers participate?
In order to participate, teachers must first be recommended. That’s where you come in. Between now and September 3rd, recommend a teacher here!
