The Civil War on Season 4 - Roswell Mills
Primary Content
We scouted our shoot location Thursday at the Roswell Mills. The city has done an excellent job creating safe, accessible pathways so people can explore the ruins of the 1839 cotton mill burned by Federal forces in July 1864. This picture is part of the mill's original iron machinery. This season on Georgia Traveler, we're exploring Civil War sites to visit. This site is not only a beautiful place to visit, but tells a remarkable story about Sherman's advance toward Atlanta. Sherman's decision to arrest 600 mill workers for treason is one of only a handful of examples of civilians being arrested and charged with war crimes during the Civil War. They were sent by train to a prison in Kentucky. Many never returned to Roswell. Tune in to Season 4 for more!
