GBI Searches Arbery Shooting Suspects' Home

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at the home of Gregory and Travis McMichael Tuesday evening, the agency confirmed.
A statement Wednesday did not provide further details, saying only that the search was part of the Ahmaud Arbery murder investigation and that the case is active and ongoing.
The McMichaels are charged with killing Arbery on Feb. 23. As he jogged through their neighborhood outside Brunswick, the McMichaels allegedly confronted Arbery, and he was shot in the ensuing struggle.
Video of the shooting unleashed anger and protests when it became public earlier this month. The GBI took over the case the same day and had arrested the McMichaels within two days.
The arrests came more than two months after Arbery's death.
The McMichaels say they suspected him of recent break-ins in the neighborhood. Police records show three reported thefts in the months prior to the shooting. In the most recent, on Jan. 1, Travis McMichael reported a firearm stolen from his truck.
The McMichaels and another neighbor had another confrontation with a man, reportedly Arbery, who they suspected of trespassing on a construction site on Feb. 11.
Security footage from shortly before the fatal shooting shows a man, apparently Arbery, entering a home under construction in the neighborhood.
According to lawyers for Arbery's family, the property owner has confirmed nothing was taken and that Arbery appeared to be stopping for a drink of water.
