Explore Georgia Offers Virtual Activities For Families At Home
Primary Content
Some businesses may have reopened amid the coronavirus pandemic, but strict policies and social distancing is still in effect for Georgians. That’s why the Explore Georgia from Home campaign created opportunities for families to explore the peach state from home.
Explore Georgia is the state tourism office within the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Megan Hood is the director of brand strategy for the digital campaign. She said when shelter-in-place orders were activated for Georgia, their team listened to communities and acted quickly to evolve messaging to promote social distancing and provide respite from the chaos.
The excitement we’ve seen from the Explore Georgia from Home campaign shows that we were able to fill a need for those travelers staying home by offering an escape and inspiring them with all of Georgia’s stunning and interesting destinations. The content was created for all ages, so we’re educating and inspiring kids between school assignments and adults when they need break from reality. And, when they’re ready to travel again, we’ll be ready to help.
Some of the content includes:
• A collection of digital puzzles featuring some of Georgia’s destinations like Chattahoochee Riverwalk in Columbus and Atlanta United in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
• A list of streaming movies and TV shows filmed in Georgia that you can watch at home.
• Themed Spotify playlists featuring Georgia musicians TLC, R.E.M and Deerhunter.
• Virtual Backgrounds for Zoom. Images include the Georgia coast, a waterfall in north Georgia, and other scenic spots in the state.
We’re all in this together, and Georgia will be ready and waiting for you when it’s time to travel again.
During this time, we want to create a digital oasis where you can get lost in the beauty of our state. From sunsets on the coast (1/2) pic.twitter.com/SVDL6cgE0x— Explore Georgia (@ExploreGeorgia) March 24, 2020
