As the investigation of Ahmaud Arbery's death in late February continues, the Brunswick neighborhood where he was fatally shot also is under examination.

Arbery was jogging in a neighborhood adjacent to the South Brunswick River and west to the Jekyll Island Causeway. He was shot and killed by Gregory and Travis McMichael at the intersection of Buford Road and Satilla Drive.

The neighborhood is part of Glynn County which, according to 2018 census data, is made up of 78% white residents, 16% black and 4%  Hispanic residents.

Arbery was fatally shot Feb. 23 by the McMichaels who told police they chased him because they believed he was a burglar. The father and son were arrested on May 7 — more than two months later — on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault after video of the shooting appeared online.
