Quarantine Space Under Construction In Monroe County

Gov. Brian Kemp has announced the construction of a second quarantine space for patients who test positive for COVID-19 and are unable self-isolate.
The facility will be located at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Campus in Monroe County and will be able to accommodate 20 temporary housing units, according to a press release from the governor's office.
The state's first isolation area is located in Morgan County at Hard Labor Creek State Park.

As of March 13, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia rose to 42 with one death.
It’s unclear when exactly the quarantine facility will be completed at this time, but Kemp assured Georgians the facility is just one of many measures being taken to prepare as the Coronavirus spreads.
Monroe County is working with officials from Georgia Emergency Management as well as the Homeland Security Agency to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of potential patients, while also protecting the safety Monroe County residents.
