Hurricane Season Ends With No Major Damage in Georgia

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season has come to an end with minimal damage to Georgia.
There were three major hurricanes this season including Dorian.
GPB's Sophia Saliby reports on the end of the 2019 Atlanta hurricane season.
The storm barely missed the Georgia coast in early September after state officials urged coastal residents to evacuate.
Gerry Bell is the lead seasonal hurricane forecaster with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
He says even as a hurricane moves, it can be hard to predict how a storm will impact the coast.
"Georgia was lucky because we know storms have affected Georgia before," he said.
"In fact ,that luck continued with Hurricane Dorian where it started to re-curve off to the North and Northeast."
This is the fourth consecutive above-normal Atlantic hurricane season.
Hurricane season begins next year on June 1st.
