Political Rewind: Georgia Members Of Congress To Play Key Roles In Impeachment Process

On this edition of Political Rewind, Georgia congressmen are taking sides to either support an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump or speak out against it. So far, four Democratic representatives are backing the move.
In addition to elected officials, a growing number of candidates for office are also responding to the call for impeachment.
Polls indicate that voters are against impeachment by wide margins, but will public opinion change as the alleged case against the president is laid out on Capitol Hill?
The White House released a transcript Wednesday of President Trump's call with the Ukrainian president. According to a memo of the call, Trump asked his Ukrainian counterpart for "a favor" to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, who could be his 2020 presidential opponent.
After months of expressing caution and resisting pressure from more liberal members of her caucus on a push for impeachment, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Tuesday she is launching a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.
And while four out of five of Georgia's Democratic representatives are in favor of an impeachment inquiry, 6th District Representative Lucy McBath has yet to weigh as of Wednesday.
“People like Lucy McBath say that they were not elected to impeach this president and are focused on other things within their district,” Patricia Murphy said.
Republican ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee Doug Collins (R-Gainesville) said Pelosi’s announcement “changes nothing legally.”
