Atlanta Pastor Emory Berry Jr. On Safety In Places Of Worship
Primary Content
Churches, synagogues, temples and mosques are all places of worship where people go to pray and find peace.
But as we’ve seen in places like Charleston and Pittsburgh, even those spaces are not safe from gunfire and hatred.
Greenforest Community Baptist Church in East Atlanta is just one of the places preparing for a potential mass shooting.
There is no current threat, but they say they need to be trained and aware.
In the midst of mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, the church has partnered with DeKalb County police to hold a series of active shooter trainings for parishioners and other religious houses of faith.
Pastor Emory Berry Jr. sits down with GPB’s Leah Fleming to discuss the training and his message moving forward after recent acts violence in public places.
