'What Is Alcapurria?' Lawsuit Alleges Discrimination For Puerto Ricans Seeking Driver's Licenses

Last week, a lawsuit filed in federal court charged the state of Georgia with violating the Civil Rights Act. The suit was filed on behalf of Kenneth Caban Gonzalez, who relocated from Puerto Rico to southeast Georgia in 2017.
Gonzalez says his documents were seized when he applied for a license at the Georgia Department of Driver Services, and an inspector there made him answer questions not asked of residents from other states.
On Second Thought host Virginia Prescott speaks with Jorge Vasquez and Dr. Amy Steigerwalt.
Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello asked Gov. Brian Kemp to look into the complaint. Kemp has since called for a "full investigation" into the claims of discrimination against Puerto Rican applicants. Jorge Vasquez from LatinoJustice represents Gonzalez, who's listed in the lawsuit.
Vasquez spoke with On Second Thought host Virginia Prescott on the line from New York about what he's seeking from the lawsuit.
Amy Steigerwalt also joined the conversation for insight on the lawsuit. Steigerwalt is a political science professor at Georgia State University.
