Primary Content
Vermont senator and 2020 Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders holds a campaign rally in Augusta during his weekend sweep through southeastern states.
The event was originally scheduled to be a town hall style meeting at the 400-seat Kroc Center theatre but was relocated to the Jessye Norman Amphitheater with a capacity for 1,800 spectators.
Before his trip to Augusta, Sanders made stops in Asheville, NC and Denmark, SC. On Sunday he will hold a rally in Birmingham, AL.
Speaking in Augusta, @BernieSanders spoke about how far the women's movement has come but noted that "based on what has happened in Alabama the other day we still have a hell of a lot of fight in order to protect women's rights and the rights of women to control their own bodies" pic.twitter.com/3AyRn5lUK3— Robert Jimison (@RobertJimison) May 19, 2019
