Friday's weather started with severe storms rolling through Georgia from the west. Authorities said a woman was killed after strong storms knocked down a tree onto her mobile home in Alabama, the Associated Press reported.

Monica Clements, 42, was found dead and her 10-year-old son suffered minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Many counties throughout the state had been under tornado warnings including Forsyth, Gwinnett and Fulton counties. Outside the metro area, Oconee, Barrow, Clarke, Walton and Jackson counties had tornado warnings that expired.

The threat of flash floods exists through 12:15 p.m. for northwestern DeKalb, east central Cobb, west central Gwinnett and northeastern Fulton counties, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Reports of damage from crashes, downed trees and power outages continue.

In 2006, thunderstorms moved across north and central Georgia, dropping hail in many west Georgia counties. In Harris and Troup Counties, golf ball to tennis ball sized hail was reported. The hail damaged roofs and trees were stripped of their leaves.
