Atlanta Animator Highlights People With Disabilities With New Superhero Team

Around 57 million people in the United States live with a disability, including around 500 thousand children, according to a report by the U.S. Census Bureau. "Team Supreme" is a new superhero team that puts children with disabilities at the forefront, celebrating their strengths.
Animator and creator of "Team Supreme," Joshua Leonard, joined "On Second Thought" to discuss the origins of his superhero team and how he hopes kids connect with the characters.
"On Second Thought" host Virginia Prescott speaks with Joshua Leonard.
"I wanted to make something that really let everybody be a part of it," said Leonard of "Team Supreme." "I wanted to have every look, every inclusion, just every type of human being."
The series' main character is Zeek, who has autism and the ability to slow down time to defeat his opponents. The show also features characters with spina bifida, sickle cell, and a new character has vitiligo.
