In "Birth of Loud: Leo Fender, Les Paul, and the Guitar-Pioneering Rivalry That Shaped Rock 'n' Roll," music writer and editor Ian Port tells the story of the electric guitar, which revolutionized American music in the mid-20th century.

Port is in Georgia for the Savannah Book Festival. He sat down with "On Second Thought" to preview the book ahead of his stop at the festival.
