New Transportation Option On Augusta University Campuses

Students and staff at Augusta University have a new, environmentally friendly alternative for travel around town and between campuses. “JAGRide” is the new bike-share service introduced in mid-January. Although bike-shares are popular in Atlanta, Savannah, and on The University of Georgia campus, this is a first for the city of Augusta.
“Students do want to take them downtown and from campus to campus,” said AU Undergraduate Student Government Association President LeDarius Scott. “We want to work with our city council members and start the conversation about having more bike lanes because we want this to be a city initiative where students can take them really anywhere they want to.”
Currently there are six bikes each on three of AU’s campuses. Students and staff can reserve them using the JAGRide app. The first half hour is free, then the cost is $5 per hour. Scott said they hope to add electric scooters in the future.
