Atlanta United fans are saying goodbye to one of the team's most beloved players, Miguel Almiron.

The 24 year old from Paraguay is reportedly being transferred to Newcastle in the English Premier League for a MLS record breaking fee of $27 million dollars.

Almiron scored 21 total goals in his two seasons with United, helping Atlanta capture it's first professional sports championship since 1995.

In an instagram post, Almiron thanked the city and fans for all the love they've shared over the past two years.

Due to league rules, the team was required to either sell Almiron or Ezequiel Barco, another top-paid player.

United had more than the allowed number of designated, high-salaried players after last week's signing of Pity Martinez.

The record breaking MLS transfer will be finalized after Almiron undergoes a medical exam
