Today's show explored the week in Georgia politics, the realities of exploitation and abuse revealed in Lifetime's new R. Kelly documentary and music from Georgia artists.
It’s been a busy week in Georgia politics. The state has a new governor, and a new legislative session is underway in the state House and Senate. GPB Politics Reporter Stephen Fowler has been under the gold dome covering the action and stopped by "On Second Thought" to provide a recap of the week.
"On Second Thought" for Friday, Jan. 18, 2019
The new Lifetime documentary, "Surviving R. Kelly," details the history of allegations against the singer. He's been accused of the sexual exploitation of minors, primarily young black women. Jennifer Frisco Bartl joined "On Second Thought" to discuss these issues and their reality in Georgia. She's the director of residential and clinical programs at Wellspring Living, an organization which provides trauma-informed care and residential programs for survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation.
We also heard music from band Nelson Patton, drummer and songwriter Deantoni Parks, and rapper Larry Harris, Jr., known as Black Bobby.
