Georgia Tech has hired a new head football coach.

The school's athletic department announced Friday that Geoff Collins will be the new man in charge.

Collins spent the past two years coaching at Temple University where he led the team to two bowl appearances.

In a press release from Georgia Tech, the school said Collins has previously worked as a graduate assistant, tight ends coach, and recruiting coordinator in two separate stints for the Yellow Jackets.

Last week, Paul Johnson stepped down as Tech's head coach after 11 seasons. Johnson left with a record of 82 wins and 59 losses.

He also holds the mark as the 4th winningest coach in Yellow Jacket history.

The Yellow Jackets finished this year with a 7-5 record and face the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Quick Lane Bowl.
