In the week leading up to Georgia’s midterm election, several high-profile visitors are in town campaigning for the two leading candidates for governor.

Thursday started with a visit from Vice President Mike Pence on behalf of Republican candidate Brian Kemp. Pence and Kemp started the day in North Georgia in Dalton before heading east to Grovetown and finishing the day in Savannah.

During his first stop, Pence attacked Kemp's opponent, Democrat Stacey Abrams, for saying a blue wave is coming to Georgia and it includes both documented and undocumented people.

"Well let me tell you something.” Pence said. “If that's the blue wave coming, it's going to hit a red, white and blue wave right here in the state of Georgia."

Pence said President Trump’s administration has been successful in large part to other Republican leaders across the country.

Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey spent the first half of the day rallying for Stacey Abrams who is hoping to become the first black female governor in country’s history.

Winfrey spoke at the Cobb Civic Center and challenged people to get out an vote. Especially African-Americans and women who had to fight for the right to vote in United States.

“I’m here today because of the men and the women who were lynched, who were humiliated, who were discriminated against who were suppressed, repressed and oppressed for the right and the equality at the polls,” Winfrey exclaimed. “And I want you to know that their blood has seeped into my DNA and I want you to know that I refuse to let their sacrifices be in vain.”

Abrams and Winfrey encouraged supporters to start rounding up friends who may not vote because they don’t think the election matters and to take them to the polls.

The two then traveled to DeKalb County for another rally stop. At DeKalb's Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center, the pair continued their conversation about Abrams' platforms and personal life. 

Echoing the early afternoon rally, Abrams said that it's important for people to "be like Oprah" and do more than post about the elections on social media, and they had to participate in Democracy and vote. 

The star power coming to the state doesn’t fall off after Thursday. Former President Barack Obama will stump for Abrams at Morehouse College in Atlanta on Friday.

President Trump will end the week in Macon campaigning for Brian Kemp.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
