The start of November brings plenty to do in Savannah. Rob Wells of Savannah Sports Council and Siobhan Egan of Paprika Southern have some tips.Rob and Siobhan suggest some weekend events.

Siobhan's picks:

  • Start the month with some art at First Fridays in Starland, which features several exhibits worth checking out. At Foxy Loxy, it's the opening reception for Whimsical Animals, featuring art made by the kids at Scribble Art Studio. Sulfur Studios is holding the closing reception for Lyric, an exhibit of artwork inspired by each artist's favorite songs. Both events are from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. At The Rat on Bull, the photography series Late Night Polaroids features black and white images of downtown Savannah at night, form 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
  • Do some yoga for a cause at Bravery is Contagious, benefitting the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire. Meet by the Forsyth Park bandshell for a session of yoga focused on healing and empowerment from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday; $10 suggested donation.
  • Take your furry friends along to the Pups 'n' Trucks Food Truck Carnival at Skidaway Island State Park. Along with food trucks, pet boutiques will be on hand and the park offers lots of trails to explore from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday; $5 to park.

Rob's picks:

  • Get ready to run at the Health & Fitness Expo prior to the Rock'n'Roll Marathon. In addition to packet pickup and registration for the weekend's races, the event at the convention center features fitness vendors, information on local events and more from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and noon to 8 p.m. Friday. Expect added security on Thursday due to the rally featuring Vice President Pence.
  • It's marathon day Saturday, with the full and half marathons kicking off in front of City Hall at 7:30 a.m. Even if you're not running, all are welcome at the free post-race party and concert in Forsyth Park, featuring Michael Franti, Nickel Bag of Funk and more from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Enjoy a shorter race on Sunday, when there's a 5K and a one-mile race at Daffin Park, both finishing in Grayson Stadiuim.
