eSports Is Heading To Georgia's High Schools

The National Association of Collegiate eSports is holding its first annual conference at Georgia State University this week.
Baseball, basketball, and especially football dominate high school sports in Georgia.
Now, there’s a new option for students across the state.

Competitive gaming is already a big deal on Georgia’s college campuses. But in June, the Georgia High School Association announced that schools will be allowed to form eSports teams in the upcoming school year.
Varsity teams will be able to compete in popular multiplayer games, like Overwatch and League of Legends.
The GHSA is still finalizing the details of the new program, but the first competitive season is expected to launch in October.
GPB's Taylor Gantt sits down with Georgia State student Brett Doster, who works as a coach for Vital Point eSports, to discuss eSports in Georgia and how competitions at the high school level could help grow the sport locally.
