The weekend is here yet again, and Bill Dawers of hissing lawns and the Savannah Morning News has some tips for making the most of it.Bill Dawers talks weekend events.

Bill's picks:

-Pick up an unusual new skill at Graveface's Rat Workshop/Taxidermy Class. Necessary supplies will be provided, including the rat, but be sure to sign up in advance in case the class fills up. Thursday, 7-10 p.m.; $75.

-Local favorite jam group Perpetual Groove will play Barrelhouse South. Thursday, 7 p.m.-midnight; $25.

-This month's Free Family Day at the Jepson Center marks Juneteenth, the traditional celebration of emancipation. It includes storytelling, hands-on art making for kids and families, a ring shout performer and more. Saturday, 1-4 p.m.; free.

-Looking ahead to next week, metal legends Anthrax will play the Stage on Bay. Fellow thrash metal band Testament will open. Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.; $35-127.

-For a very different night of music, check out indie rocker Soccer Mommy at El Rocko Lounge. Charleston's Grace Joyner will open. Wednesday, 9 p.m.-midnight; $10.
