UPDATED: Funeral Arrangements Announced For Savannah Police Officer Killed In I-16 Crash

UPDATED May 31: Savannah police have announced the funeral arrangements for Officer Anthony Christie, who was killed last week.
Visitations are scheduled Thursday and Friday at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel, from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Compassionate Christian Church, with a viewing beforehand. After the service, a motorcade procession will travel to Fox & Weeks.
Hodgson Memorial Drive will be closed between Eisenhower and Mall Boulevard beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. Police are inviting members of the public who wish to show support to set up along the processional route.

A Savannah police officer was killed early Friday morning on Interstate 16.
Police said Officer Anthony Christie was directing traffic around a crash when a tractor trailer struck his patrol car. Savannah Police Chief Mark Revenew spoke this afternoon, wearing a black band over his badge.
"As a chief, this is the worst day you can ever have," he said. "We'll get through it. You know, it's tough, but it's a strong department."
Officials said they were providing counseling for officers who served with Christie.
Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach encouraged people to pause and reflect.
"We grieve with his family who he's left behind," DeLoach said. We grieve with all those who were friends with him. We grieve for our community because whenever we lose one of these we lose one of ourselves."
Officer Christie served in the United States Navy before joining the police force in 2015. He is survived by his wife, Nicole.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
