A teenager in Thomasville, Georgia is facing charges for allegedly stealing a gun from a car earlier in March. We've seen this problem across the state. In 2016 The Trace, an investigative news website, examined firearm theft in Atlanta and Savannah. finding Atlanta led many cities with its rate of guns stolen from automobiles. We spoke with Brian Freskos, a reporter who covers gun trafficking for The Trace.

Hundreds of thousands walked in the March for our Lives to call for gun law reform. Semaj Clark, 21, has first-hand experience about the trauma that a bullet causes. A few years ago, he was shot in Savannah and paralyzed. He now uses a wheelchair. Before becoming a vocal anti-gun violence advocate, Clark was involved in gang activity.

For Women's History Month we're highlighting Georgia's female trailblazers. Alice Walker is best known for her novel, "The Color Purple," for which she became the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. Walker’s rural upbringing in Eatonton, Georgia has had an unquestionable influence on her writing. We revisited her 2015 conversation with GPB Special Correspondent Celeste Headlee.

Marvel’s "Black Panther" recently passed the billion dollar mark at the box office. It’s now the top-grossing superhero film of all time in North America. The movie was partially filmed in Georgia, with locations including the High Museum of Art in midtown Atlanta and the rock quarry at the Vulcan Materials Co. in Stockbridge. We caught up Taraja Ramsess and Greg Waddle, who worked behind the scenes.

"Black Panther" showcases the important contributions of black filmmakers. However, many early black filmmakers who aren’t well known. Atlanta filmmaker and producer Bret Wood is working to change that. He told us about his collection of so-called “race films” that go back to the silent movie era.
