Georgia Moms Rally For Gun Reform
Primary Content
One week after 17 people were shot and killed at a Florida high school, gun safety advocates rallied at the Georgia Capitol Wednesday morning.
GPB's Emily Cureton reports from the rally on this issue
A sea of women in red t-shirts poured into Atlanta’s Liberty Plaza, chanting: ‘Not one more.’
Yolanda Dillon from Smyrna was there with her daughter. She came to represent her sister, who was shot as a teenager.
“She’s been a quadriplegic for 27 years. When I look at my sister I see injustice every day,” said Dillon.
Now, she wants lawmakers to take action to protect children.
“It starts here at the Capitol. A change needs to be made. It happened to my family, but it doesn’t have to happen to other families out there.”
The rally was organized by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense. Their demands include stricter background checks, and more limits on where weapons can be carried in Georgia.
