The holidays are upon us, and Clinton Edminster of Starlandia Supply and Spacecat Books and Molly Swagler of SCAD have a few ways to celebrate this weekend.

Clinton and Molly offer their holiday tips.

Molly's picks:

-Get ready for some holiday classics at the Rockin' Around the Christmas Cabaret, at the Westin's Ben Tucker Pavilion. Local cabaret favorites Cecilia Arango, Christopher Blair, Natasha Drena and Trae Gurley will perform holiday hits by Elvis, Peggy Lee and more. Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m.; $30.

-Bring your menorah to light up the Congregation Mickve Israel atrium during the Hanukkah Dinner and Party, with a service to follow. Friday, dinner 6 p.m. and service 7 p.m.; RSVP by Thursday, Dec. 14. 

-Looking for some family fun - or a way to keep holiday-crazy kids busy? The Trustees Theater is running holiday movies all day Saturday, with snacks provided. Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas at 11 a.m., How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 3 p.m. and It's A Wonderful Life at 7 p.m.; free with donation of nonperishable food or new, in the package toy.

-Have an old-fashioned holiday with Colonial Christmas at Wormsloe state historic site. The fun includes caroling, burning a yule log, dancing to period music and other holiday observances from the colonial period. Saturday, 1-4 p.m.; $2-10.

Clinton's picks:

-A Savannah tradition returns as the Performing Arts Collective of Savannah puts on Black Nativity, a classic musical by Langston Hughes, at New Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church. The show is a retelling of the classic Nativity story. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 3 p.m.; $15 in advance, $20 at the door.

-In another tradition, local bands will once again come together for the Homegrown Holiday Hoedown at the American Legion Ballroom. Performers include the Train Wrecks and Matt Eckstine, plus food from Kayak Kafe and beer from Southbound. The event typically sells out, so it's best to buy in advance. Saturday, 6:30-11 p.m.; $25, with art supply donations for Loop It Up encouraged.

-Find more local music and cheer at the Wormhole's Rockin' for the Vets show. Garden Giant, The Mercers and more will play. Proceeds will benefit the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless Tiny House Project, which aims to provide housing for local homeless veterans. Saturday, 8 p.m.-1 a.m.; $5 or 2-3 donated food items.
