The whole family - and fans of all sorts of music - can find something fun to do in Savannah this weekend. Marcia Banes of Old Savannah Tours and Joshua Peacock of Do Savannah have some tips.Marcia and Joshua share their suggestions for the weekend.

Joshua's picks:

-Check out the craftsmanship of local guitarist Anders Thomsen, showcased in a new documentary-style music video about his work building guitars. The video will premiere at the Jinx, where Thomsen will also play a show with Josh Safer, Maggie Evans and more. Friday, 10 p.m.-1 a.m.; $5.

-Local rockers Machine Dreamz will celebrate their first year with a show at El-Rocko Lounge. The band is releasing a new single, "Soon," at the event as well. Choir of Babble and Ember City will also play. Saturday, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.

-Get down to some outlaw country when Peewee Moore plays the Jinx. The native of Georgia and Tennessee has played with some of the biggest names in rockabilly, Americana and outlaw country. Saturday, 9 p.m.

-If your bent is more brass and funk, enjoy Empire Strikes Brass at Southbound Brewing Company. The Asheville band plays a mix of funk, jazz, Southern rock and ska. Southbound beer and BowTie Barbecue will be available for purchase. Saturday, 9 p.m.; $12 in advance, $15 day-of.

-The Savannah Philharmonic will play Dvorak's ninth symphony, better known as the New World Symphony, in concert at the Lucas Theatre. The Philharmonic Chorus will join the orchestra for another work based on the same source by African-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; $15-80.

-Kids and book fans of all ages can enjoy the annual Savannah Children's Book Festival in Forsyth Park. This year's event features authors Kwame Alexander, Carmen Agra Deedy and Jose Lucio, among many others, as well as indie authors, performers and illustrators, family fun and more. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; free.

-Celebrate the local harvest at the Pecan & Honey Harvest Festival in Madison Square. Enjoy local honey and Georgia pecans, as well as pecan pies, pecan cheese bites and other tasty treats. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; free.

-Find more fall fun at Oatland Island's Harvest Festival and Cane Grinding. Learn about Georgia's agricultural legacy and see firsthand how sugar cane was processed into cane syrup in the 1800s. The event also features music, storytelling and games. Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; $7 adults, $5 children.

-Launch the holiday giving season at the Toys for Tots Kickoff Drive at Savannah Powersport Center. Bring a new, unwrapped toy, and enjoy music from Rock 106.1, food from Rollin' Smoke BBQ - and test drive the new Slingshot Motorcycle. Saturday, 12-5 p.m.

-Next week brings Thanksgiving, Black Friday - and then Small Business Saturday. Local businesses are participating in Shop Small Saturday to encourage residents and visitors to buy local.
