Today on "Political Rewind," Georgia Congressmen Tom Price, who has been nominated to be the Secretary of HHS, is the focus of a petition signed by 5,500 healthcare providers in response to the American Medical Association’s endorsement of Price. The Roswell physician, who was not expected to face a struggle during the confirmation process, may have more to worry about than the incoming administration anticipated.

Russian interference in the 2016 campaign and recent reports revealing the nation could have had a hand in the U.S. general election have not swayed Trump from pursuing the foreign policy goal to amend estranged relations.

Breaking away from Trump’s rejection of the CIA's revelation of Russian involvement during the U.S. election, several prominent national legislators on both sides of the aisle are calling for further investigation into the findings.

Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson has been nominated as the next U.S. Secretary of State. The idea has been floated that potential picks such as Mitt Romney and David Petraeus might not have been nominated if Tillerson's close ties to Russian leader Vladimir Putin was a factor in the decision.

In local politics, a private property battle on Georgia's undeveloped Cumberland Island has garnered national attention. Letters of complaint and petitions aimed at preserving the wilderness of the island have been streaming in.

Opponents of a proposed compound to be built on private property fear that the island will become difficult to maintain and lose its natural and historic character with the arrival of construction and introduction of development.
