Seventy thousand bodies are buried in the heart of Atlanta at Oakland Cemetery. Residents include former mayors and governors, "Gone With The Wind" author Margaret Mitchell, and golf legend Bobby Jones. But most of the occupants are little-known figures from Atlanta's history.

Oakland Cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This story is part of our ongoing series about historic sites in Georgia to celebrate the National Park Service's centennial year.
