Five Arrested At Fox Theatre Trump Event
Primary Content
Atlanta police arrested five people today at the Donald Trump event at the Fox Theatre. They say one was inside and four were outside, where protestors gathered holding signs saying “Trump Hates Grits” and “Build Bridges, Not Walls.” The presumptive Republican presidential nominee renewed his call for tighter restrictions on immigration and Muslims. He called for more security measures following Sunday’s shooting in Orlando.
During his speech Trump said, “We have to stop people from pouring into our country. We have to stop it, until we find out what the hell is going on.”
It’s that kind of call to action that wins Marilyn Little’s support: “We’ve got to stop them. We’ve got to bomb them in the other foreign county, and we don’t need to bring the Muslims … the people here until we know whether they’re legal … they’re good people or bad people.”

Dr. Andre Oboler, who’s visiting Atlanta from Australia this week, said a Trump presidency worries him.
“Our biggest concern, I’ve got to say, is the U.S. still has a pretty large nuclear arsenal, and the presidents got his finger on the button. That is a really scary thought. Just seeing what’s been going on, you know it’s starting to make Putin look more reasonable.”

Before the event, state Democratic party leaders held a press conference across the street to discuss why they believe Trump isn’t fit to be the next Commander-in-Chief. State Representative LaDawn Jones represents Fulton and Douglas counties.
“We wanted to make sure that there was someone here to make it clear that there are more Georgians who stand for the right thing which is not Donald Trump and his rhetoric that is misogynistic and racist in every way possible,” Jones said.
