You can see dances like "The Dougie" and the "Nae Nae" in Youtube videos from all over the world. But many of these moves have their roots in hip-hop in the South. We look at the intersection of hip hop and dance and why one writer thinks Atlanta is the Capital of Viral Dance.
We speak with Creative Loafing senior staff writer and Five Points podcast co-host Rodney Carmichael; UCLA professor and hip hop dance scholar Lorenzo “Rennie” Harris; and Andy Tadic, who manages young rappers and dancers like Atlanta’s We Are Toonz which created the viral dance “Nae Nae.”
