Super Tuesday Primary in Georgia!

The SEC/Super Tuesday Primary day is finally here, as is the special Primary edition of GPB’s Political Rewind. With both major party front-runners appearing poised for big nights, their closest challengers just hoping to stay in the game.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton is leading in all states going to the polls today except Senator Bernie Sanders’ home state of Vermont. In the GOP contest, Donald Trump leads in all but Sen. Ted Cruz’s home state of Texas. If Clinton and Trump win big, will their momentum allow them to roll on to their respective party’s nomination?
Georgia is participating in the first ever “SEC” presidential primary, joining with Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina and Virginia in March 1st voting. Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp joins the panel by phone to discuss the impact of raising Georgia’s and other southern states’ profile during this primary season. We also speak with University of Georgia political scientist Dr. Charles Bullock and the AJC’s Greg Bluestein to get their impressions of the campaign and primary voting in the state.
GPB’s Sam Whitehead joins us live from a polling location in Atlanta to give an update on voter participation and voting trends. Other GPB reporters in Atlanta, Macon and Savannah conducted unscientific exit polling to find out what Georgia voters are thinking about and who they voted for. We’ll hear from some of them.
