Fresh off the heels of Don is Tropical Storm Emily! Located about 350 miles southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tropical Storm Emily formed just east of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Ocean - she is currently moving west at 12 knots (14 mph). Emily's maximum sustained wind speed is 35 knots (40 mph), and her minimum central pressure is 1007 millibars.

Tropical Storm Watches have been posted for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Haiti. Tropical Storm Warnings have been posted for Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the islands of Guadeloupe, Desirade, Les Saintes, and Marie Galante, and the islands of Vieques and Culebra. More information about posted tropical storm watches and warnings can be found on the National Hurricane Center's website.

Remember, a Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within 48 hours. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within the next 36 hours.

Keep an eye on Tropical Storm Emily over the next few days - model forecasts suggest that Emily will swing towards the north-northwest and potentially make landfall in Florida as a hurricane. If vacation plans take you to Florida over the next several days, be prepared just in case Emily makes it necessary for you to cut your stay short. The last thing you'd want to be caught in is an evacuation traffic jam when you're supposed to be relaxing on the beach!
