When you look at Lambert's 24-7 win over defending GHSA Quad-A Champion Chattahoochee, what stood out were the performances of QB David Broadus and Slotback/receiver Brock Maxwell (who, incidentally, is also the son of the Longhorns' Head Coach, Sid Maxwell). Each were part of the offensive unit that amassed 300 yards on the ground and dominated the Cougars' defense at the point of attack, the line of scrimmage. Maxwell had 110 yards on 11 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. Broadus gained 67 yards on 12 carries, and scored once.

What did not go unnoticed was the outstanding performance of Lambert's offensive line, which cleared the way for 5 foot 5 and a half inch, 188 pound fullback Daniel Myers. Myers ran for 160 yards on 28 carries largely on misdirection plays and was lost in the middle of the humongous Longhorn O-line. Myers then became very tough for the Chattahoochee defenders to tackle. Myers spoke exclusively with the GPB Sports Blog after Friday's night's primetime performance.

With this victory, Myers and his Lambert Longhorns are 2-and-0 and now have the inside track on the Region 7 Quad A title. They host the Creekview Grizzlies this Friday Night in the Horn. Sid Maxwell and his staff will have to keep his team focused in order to avoid a possible mental collapse after Friday's win at Chattahoochee. What a job Maxwell has done at the 3 year old high school, playing only its second full varsity season.
