The Five Things I Know... Round One...
Primary Content
It’s time for the Third Season…
Now that we’re down to the final 160 teams that are aiming for the five titles by mid-December, there are stories that have shocked us this year. There are stories of great courage, perseverance, and growing up too soon.
But in all that is a greater message…
Friday just isn’t about Friday…
Here are my five thoughts that will take us into the beginning of the third season…
As always, they’re in no particular order- and the mailbag this week is concerned with the completely shocking season in Roswell…
First thing I know…
The Burke-Thomson game was one of the top five games of the year and we haven’t even hit the playoffs yet. The result was the same as it was last year, and it served some notice from the bird-dog capital of the world that the Bears are for real…
If there was any doubt heading into Game 11…
Chris and Merissa tell the tale…

Second thing I know… let’s hear it for FPD… and by that I don’t mean a Police Department in either Fairburn or Fayetteville…
First Presbyterian Day, in their second year of GHSA football, has made it to the Third Season… here’s how- a win over Pace in their final regular season game of the season…
Friends of GPB, Ben and Frank, are giddy over the highlights...
((HT: 13WMAZ-TV Macon))
Third thing I know… I will maintain, until further notice, that Region 1-5A is one of the most fun regions to pay attention to all season long- frankly, all Region 1’s are fun to follow along all season long…
In 5A, the Colquitt-Valdosta game decided it all for the region title… and, sure enough, the game would need more than 48 minutes to settle it. Coach Rance Gillespie has been lying in the weeds with his Wildcats, a lot of people say, and it will be interesting to see if everyone who considers themselves either a pundit or an expert is right in the long term.
Here’s how it ended… on gpb.org/sports
Fourth thing I know… Bacon and Appling went down to the wire and it was Bacon County that won the region for the first time. That added to Benedictine’s last-second win to get them in, and Ware and Statesboro trading haymakers lead Week 11…
GPB alum “The Big Guy” Frank Sulkowski and Allen Kinzly lead your Frenzy…

Fifth thing I know… Blatant plug alert…
It’s time for the Third Season to come full bore…
On the TV side, Marist’s Alan Chadwick looks for career win 300 against Kell- pre-game starts a little before 8PM while on the web at gpb.org/sports, it’s Coffee visiting Stephenson at Memorial Stadium. Their pre-game starts a little before 7:30PM…
So, follow us on TV, the web, Friend us on Facebook, chime in with Jackie Brit-uh on Twitter, and download our iPhone app (it’s free, by the way)- just follow along…
Before we go… it’s mail call…
And most of it centered around the 0-10 season of the Roswell Hornets…
Here was the conversation I had with a few folks…
Elizabeth
Roswell going 0-9 so far. That is a surprise to me. To have had a state title in the past 5 years (2006 tied with Peachtree Ridge) and to have won the region title last year and barely miss it by losing to Lassiter in 2009, shows how much a new coach can make a team succeed or fail.

Except at the away games and Last weeks homecoming game. Where the stands were empty.
I agree with Elizabeth... The first time in 62 years that the team will go 0-10. Right now they are just adding to the worst record in school history. The team up until now has never lost more than 7 games in a season
Thanks for all the input… keep inputting as we head on the Road To The Dome…
Play it safe, everyone... I'll talk to you soon...
