It’s that time of year…

I know I have used that line before, but this is for the end of the year…

Strange for all of us, but it seems just yesterday that we started this whole thing…

From a television standpoint, it took a lot of people from GPB and our Turner Productions partners to get it done- and, to all of you, I give a big thanks…

We got to do a lot of different things this past year that we haven’t been able to do before, and it was fun to see all of the activity.

What do you take with you from this past season…???

That’s the question for Facebook and all the other outlets as we head toward the holidays. And, for this one time, I’ll ask you to start the conversation. I’ll be right here watching…

The five things I know are in order of broadcast this time…

First thing I know…

The Calhoun-Buford game was one of the best games I have ever seen- whether I covered it or just was watching it…

Back and forth, revelations about headsets, momentum swings, prescient analysis from my broadcast partner, Tim McFarlin, and an amazing finish…

Here’s what we’ve all been talking about for almost two weeks straight…

I ran into Calhoun head coach Hal Lamb as his team was being honored at the NAIA title game this past Saturday, and he was still smiling…

Understandably so… congrats to the Yellow Jackets…

And another round of congratulations to the Wolves for their run of superiority in the last four seasons as they move to triple-A next year…

Second thing I know…

It was a dominant year for the Tucker Tigers in Quad-A, and it was one of the more quiet dominant years I have seen in quite some time… Franklin Stephens’ team just went about their business and got his second title at the school.

Congrats to Al Hughes and his Lovejoy team for making it to a title game and a great defensive effort all year long…

Third thing I know…

Savannah Christian got the job done after having been denied the previous two seasons. The running game and the depth that head coach Donald Chumley had was too much for the road warriors from Landmark Christian. But give Kenny Dallas and his team a great deal of credit as well- they were playing playoff games for the final seven weeks of the year…

Friend of GPB, Allen Kinzly, was at the Dome and raced back to Savannah for the showing of the highlights…

Fourth thing I know…

Hurrahs to everyone in Burke County for having overcome a lot of personal tragedy over the last few years to get the school’s first title…

Zach Klein, Coach McFarlin, and yours truly discussed what happened as closely as the weekend before to some of the Bears family. Peach County had a 14-0 lead, but Burke just proved too much over time for the 28-14 win…

Here’s one of the stories we talked about on air… Jillian Benfield caught up with senior Kadarius Burdette…

Fifth thing I know…

Grayson is ranked third in the country after their dominating performance against Walton High, 24-0. And Robert Nkemdiche is coming back for his senior season…

Here’s how everyone now has the Rams in their cross-hairs for 2012…

Thanks to all of you who stopped by to read and talk it through this season…

Next up is the run to Signing Day

Play it safe, everyone… have a great holiday season…
