Charlie Dixon ran 27 times for 229 yards and one touchdown to lead Callaway to a 22-17 win over Fitzgerald in the Class 2A final, giving the Cavaliers their first state football championship.

Callaway (12-1) quarterback Demetrius Coleman completed 5 of 10 passes for 92 yards and one touchdown. Coleman also ran 14 times for 85 yards and one touchdown to help Callaway amass 403 total yards.

The Cavaliers began the game with a safety. The defense was led by LaQuize Gilbert, who had 10 tackles and four assists, and Austin Thomas, who had seven tackles and one tackle for loss.

Fitzgerald (13-1) running back Chance Gamble rushed 11 times for 86 yards and scored on a 4-yard run and caught five passes for 92 yards and a 60-yard tournament to help the Cavaliers bring home their first state championship.

Rashad Davis completed 14 of 22 passes for 234 yards and one touchdown. Todkevious Wallace caught four passes for 101 yards.

The Fitzgerald defense got eight tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks from E.J. Lightsey.
