Tropical Storm Fred Moves Across the Region

Tropical Storm Fred is moving across the region and weather scientists warn heavy rain and strong gusts will come with it.
A flash flood watch is in place for most of Georgia through Wednesday. National Weather Service meteorologist David Nadler said there’s likely to be heavy rain across Georgia.
“Just be prepared if you’re in a flood-prone area — or if you’re near a creek or a stream, a low-lying area,” Nadler said. “Also urban areas where sewer drains are clogged up and things like that, where the water can come up pretty quickly.”
NWS scientists also warned that high winds may cause downed trees and power lines, leading to potential power outages.
Rainfall totals are predicted to be around 2 to 5 inches in Middle and North Georgia and about 8 inches near Southwest Georgia, closer to where the storm made landfall.
