Invite GPB Education’s Mobile VR Lab to introduce your group to VR technology. Learn about research that demonstrates the effectiveness of incorporating VR into your instruction and showcases ways that VR is already being applied throughout the professional world. Explore content and app recommendations for all content areas (including STEAM, CTAE, Language Arts, and Social Studies) and examples of how they can be used to meet learning objectives. Try out VR firsthand using our class set of Oculus Go headsets to embark upon a virtual learning journey created by GPB Education.

Rediscovering Georgia Through GPB’s Immersive Education Technology
Grade Level: 3-12
Join GPB Education on an interactive tour of our ongoing virtual reality initiative, creating and transforming key digital resources from our social studies and STEAM collections into an exciting VR format that allows students to engage with events, places, and people they might otherwise encounter only as two-dimensional words or images. In this session, participants will be immersed in such technology firsthand through our 360º virtual reality videos and walking tours, and augmented reality interactives and simulations. Soar over Providence Canyon via drone, take a boat ride through the Okefenokee Swamp, and an ATV trek through a Georgia working forest. Step back in time to key places and events of the Civil Rights Movement and experience the sights, sounds, music, and art from this extraordinary period in history. Watch plant and animal cells come to life in the palm of your hand. Invite your students on their own virtual adventure throughout Georgia and encourage their lifelong love of learning with GPB’s free and inspiring educational resources.

Reality Checkmate: Expanding Student Horizons With GPB’s AR and VR Learning Journeys

Sit back and hold on tight as we take a virtual learning journey to places normally out of reach, exploring the inspiring new augmented and virtual reality learning resources created by GPB Education and streaming partner PBS LearningMedia. Unstrap and dive right in as we model ideas for how virtual reality expansions can pair inspiring content with meaningful learning activities and engage students in mastering knowledge and skills that are relevant to real-world experiences.
GPB Education is expanding our interactive virtual field trips with new augmented and virtual reality technology to enhance student engagement through active, hands-on participation in the learning process. This new technology and the expansion process will be highlighted during the session.

Ready Scholar One: Bringing Virtual and Game-Based Learning to the Secondary Classroom
Grade Level: 6-12
Game-based learning is a tried-and-true educational approach, made more effective by the growing availability of interactive digital content. Participants will explore how virtual and game-based approaches can pair meaningful learning activities with appropriate assessment challenges, and enable students to enthusiastically engage in mastering knowledge and skills that are relevant to experiences beyond the classroom.

Rediscovering Georgia’s Forests and Forestry Resources Through Immersive Education Technology (Mobile VR Lab)
Grade Level: 6-12
Join GPB Education and the Georgia Forestry Foundation on a personal virtual reality tour of Georgia’s forests and forestry resources. In this sessions, a maximum of 34 participants will be immersed in VR technology through our 360º VR videos and walking tours. Soar over a Georgia forest via drone or zipline; wind through the understory on a hike or ATV trek; sit in the driver’s seat of a loader; hop on a logging truck as it makes its journey from the harvest site to the mill. Start at the beginning with a visit to a seedling line or skip to the end by touring a converting plant. Choose your own adventure and discover first-hand how virtual reality can help engage your students with interactive educational content that’s relevant to real-world experience.

Virtual Learning Journeys Through History: Exploring Slavery & Freedom in Antebellum Savannah
Grade Level: 6-12
GPB Education and Telfair Museums have created a virtual learning journey to explore the complexities of slavery and freedom in antebellum Savannah through the lens of the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters. Key concepts are presented through interactive elements like primary source letters and images, navigable maps, videos, and a virtual walking tour. Exploring the virtual content via Oculus Go headsets, participants will learn about the connections between the institution of slavery and the global economy and discover what one city can teach us about society and culture before the Civil War.

Virtual Learning Journeys Through History: Exploring the Civil Rights Movement (Mobile VR Lab)
Grade Level: 6-12
In collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Public Broadcasting has produced a free, standards-based virtual learning journey that transports students to a critical period of time in United States history. Brimming with comprehensive, cross-curricular content, including videos, primary source images and documents, compelling photo galleries, interactive maps, artwork, music, and more, this virtual collection invites students into an engaging exploration of some of the most significant events of the Civil Rights Movement.
Session participants will explore virtual content using Oculus Go headsets or their own devices while presenters model instructional strategies to elicit creative responses to the experience. Following this session, educators will better understand how to implement their own virtual exploration in the classroom.

In "Start it Up," participants delve into a decision-making journey, navigating the intricacies of starting a small business. From the initial idea to two years of critical choices, players determine their fate – will they achieve future success or face the challenges that could force their business to close?
Immerse yourselves in this game-based learning challenge where education meets entrepreneurship, a dynamic and enjoyable way to tackle complex money management concepts while experiencing the thrills of the small business industry. Don't forget to bring your personal device, financial curiosity, and your game face for a session that promises both entertainment and valuable financial insights!
