National Memorial Day Concert
Primary Content
In honor of Memorial Day, PBS will once again present the National Memorial Day Concert. On Sunday, May 27 at 8pm join citizens around the country as we unite during the nation’s tribute to the sacrifices made by our armed forces across generations. The 23rd annual broadcast of the National Memorial Day Concert airs live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, and to our troops around the world on the American Forces Network.
This year, Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna host the event honoring the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, their families and all those who have given their lives for our country. The night of remembrance features an all-star line-up of dignitaries, actors and musical artists in performances with the National Symphony Orchestra directed by Jack Everly.

We at GPB acknowledge and appreciate the gift of our freedom at the sacrifice of of our armed forces. To share more about what that means with younger generations or to learn more about it yourself, visit our website for GPB’s WWII Veterans Oral History Project to hear interviews from some of Georgia’s World War II veterans.
If you or someone you know is a military family, PBS’s talk, listen, connect kits are a helpful tool in communicating with children about their service member relative. The free online tools have proven very helpful in making caregivers more comfortable sharing with children. It is a very hard thing for a child to repeatedly say goodbye to a parent, especially for long periods of time. With these resources, PBS is helping to make that process a little easier.
