Recruiting Spotlight: Rabun County's Gunner Stockton
Primary Content
Gunner Stocker has already had a record year at Rabun County High School, and we haven’t even started playoffs yet. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior is the No. 6 quarterback in the nation and No. 4 overall player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Stockton first broke former Gainesville standout Deshaun Watson's record for total touchdowns when he hit 218 against Grovetown. Then three weeks later, he broke Trevor Lawrence's state career passing touchdown record with his 162nd pass in the first quarter against Union County. The No. 1 ranked Wildcats are currently 9-1 and 3-0 in Region 8-2A and have secured an eighth consecutive region championship after a 45-7 win over Elbert County.
The five-star prospect clearly has a bright future at the next level. South Carolina originally took the lead on Stockton’s recruitment, but he decommitted after head coach Will Muschamp was fired in Nov. 2020. That opened the door for head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs to jump all over him.
Find out why Stockton decided to commit to the Dawgs and more about his recruiting process an interview with GPB’s Hannah Goodin.
