Taking A Nap Actually Increases Your Creativity - So Go For It!
Primary Content
New York Times best-selling Jonah Lehrer is laid back and easy going when you meet him – but very early in your time with him one realizes, oh my goodness this guy is incredibly smart!
Of course he is -- he’s a young neuroscientist! However – he does not sit in a laboratory – instead, he is helping us all (business executives, teachers and scientist too!) understand that “creativity is not just a single gift possessed by the lucky few. It’s a variety of distinct thought processes that we can all learn to use more effectively.”
I am reading his latest book “Imagine” where he reveals the importance of “the rut” we all find ourselves in at times, as well as the value of thinking like a child; how daydreaming, warm showers, taking a nap or a walk (or travelling) can be the kick-start to incredible insights and innovative thoughts.
So given that you – a teacher – are taking a break right now, I thought you’d appreciate the fact that your travel and nap under a shade tree or at the beach are actually the best work you could do to be your most creative! And we all want that for our kids – you at your creative best!
Have a blast this weekend!
