About the Greenwave: Spencer is the Region 2 champion and has won 27 straight games. The Greenwave are led by Region 2 Player the Year Tycen McDaniels, a 6-foot-6 junior wing has drawn plenty of college attention. Spencer also has three other members of the all-region team – senior captain Randall Dixon, freshman Tony Montgomery and Wyderius “Y.D.” Scott. Spencer has never won a state championship.
Westover Patriots

How they got there: Def. Islands, def. Luella, def. Jefferson, def. McDonough.
About the Patriots: Westover is the Region 1 champion and has won seven straight games and defeated No. 1 McDonough in the Final Four. The Patriots bring a balanced attack that’s led by seniors Effrin Smith (11.6 points, 6.1 rebounds) and Keshay Walton (10.9 points, 4.4 rebounds) and juniors Kemari Leverette (10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds) and Kavon Johnson (8.0 points, 3.6 rebounds. Westover has won six state championships, the latest in 2001, but most famously four straight under the late Willie Boston from 1990-93.
