Political Rewind: In 'Flipped,' journalist Greg Bluestein takes readers along on the campaign trail
Primary Content
Thursday on Political Rewind: As a journalist covering the political beat for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Greg Bluestein is known for his prolific output of stories. He traveled far and wide to track down political news during the 2020 election cycle. There were only a few days when Bluestein did not have at least one byline on the front page of the newspaper.
But churning out stories on a daily basis is a far different skill from the long and often laborious process of becoming a book writer. Bluestein made the transition to write his new book, Flipped: How Georgia Turned Purple and Broke the Monopoly on Republican Power, over the past two years.
The book feature stories from the 2020 campaign trail, a transitional moment in Georgia's political history. Voters turned Georgia into a "blue state," electing two Democratic U.S. senators and flipping the state for President Joe Biden. Bluestein tells the stories behind that story, and helps us understand an important period in Georgia history.
Tomorrow on Political Rewind:
Emory's Dr. Andra Gillespie joins the panel.
