The late Oakland Raiders owner, Al Davis, always believed in punishing the other team through his defense...

The one phrase that is associated with him is that "the quarterback must go down and he must go down hard..."- the feeling there being that if the first ten times you hit the guy, it would remind him for the rest of the game what was going on.

The same could be said for top-ranked teams... when they go down they go down hard...

Examples and evidence below...

First Thing I Know... Who Saw Parkview Coming...???

Show of hands... thought so...

Four fumbles ended up killing drives for the Rams- including one by Robert Nkemdiche in the endzone and the Panthers, who had only scored three points all season until then... found 22 and beat one of the top-ranke teams in the country. This causes Mickey Conn and his team to re-focus their energies locally instead of globally- which may be a good thing...

Here's how it ended, Chris Carson got a lot of carries...

The same could be said for Walton and their shocking loss to North Cobb... some in Cobb County may not necessarily be shocked by the idea of a loss, but the final score is certainly what a lot of people are looking at...

49-17 doesn't cross your screen without a double-take. And what do you want to bet that practice in Raider Valley this week will be a bit of an adventure...???

Second Thing I Know... Calhoun now has the longest active win streak in the state at 18...

Those of you that watched our webcast on gpb.org got a beauty of a game between Carrollton and Calhoun as the Yellow Jackets won 46-35. Josh Barnes caught 18 passes for 204 yards and Taylor Lamb was 38-of-55 passing for 465 yards and four touchdowns. And here's a note for you from our friends at the GHSF Daily, Calhoun became the first team in state history to win three consecutive games while allowing 35 or more points.

Here's the game as it aired on GPB.org

Third Thing I Know... Confirmation of Peach County being the top-ranked team in triple-A...

In one of the larger central Georgia games, the Trojans beat Warner Robins 29-24. Peach led 29-21 at halftime. Tyler Gibson had a 98-yard kickoff return and Demarus Robinson caught a 67-yard TD from Greg Williams to get the big gainers for Peach...

Friends of GPB, Ben and Frank, discuss this year's version with a little back story from last year on how Ben got into serious trouble...

In other stuff in central Georgia, Washington County took care of Baldwin. They were trailing 14-8 at the break and came back to win with a little help from two TD's from Melvin Hill. Courtney Lyle has evidence below...

Fourth Thing I Know... I think Colquitt is a little mad at the moment...

After struggling in their wins since the loss to North Gwinnett in the Corky Kell, they took out some frustrations on Carver-Columbus in Moultrie...

33-0 worth of taking out frustrations...for Homecoming...

Robert Hydrick is in the Locker Room...

Fifth Thing I Know... Blatant plug time...

This week is kinda cool on "Football Fridays" on the #greatGPB...

Two schools who haven't met in 19 years... St. Pius and Lovett...

The Golden Lions were coached for 26 years by Georgia High School legend George Maloof. In his last season, 1983, the two schools squared off for the last time. Until this week...

The "All-Access Pass" kicks off at 7:30 with Jenn, Mark, Rayven, Grace, Gil, Trey, and "Moi" along with everyone else that makes the show sing the way it does. Kick-off around 8:08 or so...

On gpb.org, it's West Forsyth (5th in 6A) taking on Alpharetta- kick-off there is at 7:30...
