Pianist/Composer, Dave Brubeck, December 6, 1920 - December 5, 2012

Pianist, Composer and Humanitarian, Dave Brubeck, made his transition on Wednesday, December 5. His career, that spanned over 60 years, was filled with important milestones, including the evergreen masterpiece recorded in 1959, "Time Out" that contains the still instantly recognizable, "Take 5".

In tonight's 10 PM hour of The Jazz Spot, we'll pause to remember this Jazz Master by sharing the special, "Dave Brubeck: Legacy Of A Legend".

This one-hour special will include stories and insights about the music from Dave Brubeck and from some of his collaborators over the years.

Mr. Brubeck once explained what jazz meant to him. “One of the reasons I believe in jazz,” he said, “is that the oneness of man can come through the rhythm of your heart. It’s the same anyplace in the world, that heartbeat. It’s the first thing you hear when you’re born — or before you’re born — and it’s the last thing you hear.”
