WORKING: Family Business
Primary Content
At work, you might have your company’s mission or values posted somewhere in your workspace or in common areas. Maybe it’s automatically appended at the end of your emails.
At home, some families do the same thing. They’ve gotten together to develop a mission statement or to identify their values. And they use those to make sense of their family life.
Sounds strange, doesn’t it? But some people are running their families like a business, complete with missions, branding, meetings accountability. They’re using all the group dynamics stuff people have studied in the workplace and translating that to their home lives.
Our workplace expert Brandon Smith explains why this makes sense for many families in this week’s Working on GPB Radio.
